As was reported earlier, the thefts of plumbing and sewage network manhole covers have become more frequent in Uzhgorod. Since the beginning of this year, around 100 covers have been stolen.
Administration of the MU "Vodokanal Uzhgorod" emphasizes that by their criminal actions, the thieves not only cause material damage to the company, but also endanger residents and guests of our city.
In addition, according to Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, such criminal activity is punishable by up to 12 years imprisonment with confiscation of property. Therefore, every theft of manhole covers is reported to law enforcement authorities, and criminal proceedings are initiated.
Currently, all known locations of stolen manhole covers are fenced where possible. However, the administration of the company still urges Uzhgorod residents and guests to be careful to avoid getting injured.
Also, they ask to report about manholes without covers to the dispatch service of the company by phone 64-06-56 or 64-38-55, on the site voda.uz.ua, or by e-mail kanc@voda.uz.ua.
