The US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine is visiting Transcarpathia

Marie Jovanović, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Ukraine, is on a working visit to Transcarpathia.

As Hennadiy Moskal noted, "the woman who has a very respectable status, is open and easy-going, although the issues discussed at our meeting were very serious."

H. Moskal told Ms. Ambassadors about the specific features of our region, which has a very interesting history and borders on the four EU countries, as well as the related interethnic, migration processes, emigration, etc. The parties also touched upon such topical issues as decentralization, the implementation of the new education law in Transcarpathia and attempts by Russian intelligence agencies to destabilize the situation.

– The United States, as a multinational country, knows how governments should act in similar situations, – Marie Jovanovic said. – We support Ukraine in its Euro-Atlantic aspirations, we closely monitor the situation in the westernmost region of Ukraine bordering the European Union, and the opinion of the head of the region is of particular interest to us.

After the official part, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration showed Ms. Marie the building of the Regional State Administration, built in the 1930s by the Czechoslovak authorities.

After that, they went to see Uzhgorod sakuras and Easter egg trees on the square in front of the RSA building.

In the Regional Council she was greeted by the first deputy chairman of the Regional Council Yosyp Borto.

The meeting was attended by the chairman of the Standing Committee on Education, Science, Culture, Spirituality, Youth Policy, Physical Culture and Sports, National Minorities and Information Policy Ildiko Oros and member of the Regional Council Geza Hulachi.

Yosyp Borto sincerely thanked the Ambassador for visiting our land bordering the four countries of the European Union, and wished her good impressions from Transcarpathia.

Marie Jovanovic, for her part, emphasized that the United States supports Ukraine in its Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

– The United States is a multinational state and has well-developed mechanisms and an enormous experience of peaceful coexistence of people and communities that we are ready to share, – Marie L. Jovanovic said.
