The tragedy in Kolchino: official information from law enforcement agencies

The police began the proceedings over the landslide in Mukachevo district.

Employees of the Mukachevo district police department are establishing all circumstances of the landslide in the village of Kolchino, Mukachevo district, a criminal proceeding was opened over the incident.

Today, May 10, in the morning, the police received from a resident of the village of Kolchino, Mukachevo district, a report that stone and sand from the local quarry had damaged the houses in the village. Rescuers and officers of the Mukachevo District Police Department arrived at the scene. Law enforcers found out that two houses had been damaged. One of the houses was not lived in, a single woman was living in the other one. The back side of another two-story house was partially damaged. People were not injured as a result of the landslide. The police opened a criminal proceeding over the incident under Part 1 of Article 272 of the Code of Civil Procedure, that is, a breach of safety rules during the execution of work with increased danger. Such an offense is punishable by a fine of up to fifty non-taxable minimum incomes, or correctional labor for a term of up to two years, or restraint of liberty for a term of up to three years, with or without the deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years. Law enforcers are determining the amount of damage and whether mining operations were carried out there recently.
