The traffic on the roads of the region is free, but the heaviest snowfall is yet to come

During the night to Friday (13.01), no emergencies occured on the roads of Transcarpathia – vehicular traffic was not hindered, the way through four passes on the administrative border of the region was free. Rescuers used crosscountry special transport to tow stalled vehicles, so there was no congestion. As of 9:00 on Friday, vehicular traffic (including trucks) in Transcarpathia is without restrictions, 117 vehicles are engaged in snow plowing, in problem areas (passes and lacets) crosscountry transport is ready to tow stuck vehicles.

Heavy snowfall hampers vehicular traffic, so the Regional State Administration asks drivers not to exceed speed limits, observe safe distance and be careful on the roads. The peak snowfall in Transcarpathian region is expected in the second half of Friday and during the night to Saturday. Heavy, sometimes very heavy and wet snow, slush build-up, ice is expected. If necessary, special vehicles will be engaged to clear the roads, there may be temporary restrictions on freight traffic.
