In the village of Zabrid in Velyky Berezny district, the family-type orphanage of the Svitlyks family was established in the foster mother’s own house. The woman has three own children, two of whom already have their own families and live separately. Her daughter Yana, born in 2001, supported the mother’s decision.
According to the Service for Children of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, on July 13 this year, two brothers and a sister from one family were sent to the family-type orphanage of the Svitlyks family, two more children from the same family will be sent to the orphanage after returning from Italy, where they are on rehabilitation.
Prior to that, four of the children were raised in the Chynadiyevo boarding school, another one – in the regional orphanage.
According to the Head of the Regional State Administration Service for Children Svitlana Yakimelina, curently there are 2364 orphans and children deprived of parental care in the region. 1920 of them are covered with family care. 375 orphans and children deprived of parental care are raised in 40 family-type orphanages and 59 foster families in the region.
