The situation with textbooks for national minorities in the region is critical. Deputies will appeal to the Minister of Education

The regional elected representatives during the second plenary meeting of the 10th session of the Regional Council will appeal to the Minister of Education of Ukraine to exercise the powers granted to her by the legislation of Ukraine and provide the educational institutions of the region with instruction in languages ​​of national minorities with textbooks, which in turn will allow to integrate this category into Ukrainian society.

The document states: "We, deputies of the Transcarpathian Regional Council, while supporting the authorities’ desire to improve the quality of education in Ukraine, including the comprehensive development of the Ukrainian language as a state language, are appealing to you about the problem of national minorities in the region. To ensure a good level of education, every student should be provided with a textbook. The situation with textbooks for national minorities that live in Transcarpathian region is critical. There are few textbooks purchased at the expense of the diaspora and the level of the provision of such schools with textbooks at the expense of public funds is very low."

The head of the Standing Committee of the Regional Council on Education, Science, Culture, Spirituality, Youth Policy, Physical Culture and Sports, National Minorities and Information Policy Oros I. I. received a letter from the publishing house "Bukrek" in Chernivtsi concerning the possibility of provision of educational institutions with instruction languages ​​of national minorities with printing products. During the discussion on this issue, it was decided to initiate an appeal to higher authorities on the provision of educational institutions of the region with instruction in languages of national minorities with textbooks.
