The researcher of old prints will be commemorated tomorrow (Announcement)

As reported, on May 23, at 15.00, in the regional House of Culture of Trade Unions (Ruska st., 3) in Uzhgorod, there will be the honoring of the famous Transcarpathian researcher of origins of Ukrainian writing and printing, talented scientist and publicist Oleksandr Oros.

The memorial event will be attended by friends of Oleksandr Oros from Lviv, Kyiv, historians and scholars. There will be a lot of memories, a concert.

The event is organized by the prominent Transcarpathian’s niece Olga Kurnat.

She told uzhgorod.in that she still does not know where his uncle’s fierce desire to fight for Ukraine came from. He knew Cyrillic and Glagolitic, so he began researching old prints. Readers know his research on the monastery in the village Hrushovo of Tyachiv district. It has been over a year since Oleksandr Orosa has not been living among us, he died last year on February 23. That was when the Maidan began.

"He would often surprise with his actions. Yes, he was waiting for an operation, he needed money. And yet, he donated a large sum of money to buy cigarettes for people on the Maidan. He also helped orphans. But he was doing it quietly, he did not like to talk about it" – Ms. Olga says.
