The police promises to deal with “camouflage”

The police are investigating into the situation regarding Uzhgorod University. Currently, the criminal proceedings for hooliganism and violence against the UzhNU management have been initiated and are being investigated, the site of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs Office informs.

Initially, the police received the complaint of the Acting Rector O.Slyvka about threats against him and obstruction to his work from the person responsible for combating corruption in the University. This person is also the activist of the Right Sector. According to the statement of the Acting Rector, the activist’s claims concerned the course of the investigation conducted by the investigators of the MIA of Ukraine concerning the former management of the university.

This statement was registered in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations, and the pre-trial investigation was initiated by the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region under Part 1 of Art. 350 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (threats or violence against an official or a citizen who performs a public duty).

Yesterday, we remind, the situation became even more alarming. About 11 o’clock in the morning, the secretary of the receiving office of Uzhgorod National University reported to Uzhgorod city police that the premises of the UzhNU administration had been invaded by unknown persons in camouflage.

The investigative team and the management of the police arrived at the scene.

It was found out that there were forty people in camouflage in the premises of UzhNU who had damaged the door to the office of the Rector. The Acting Rector of UzhNU O.Slyvka was not in the office at that time. There were stickers "Right Sector" on the door. All persons, who participated in the events, have been identified, including those who were hiding their faces behind balaclavas. Also, the person, who damaged the rector’s office door, has been identified.

Now, this incident is registered in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations with the preliminary legal classification of "Hooliganism" (Part 2 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The investigation is ongoing.
