The police consider the possible disruption of the election in Mukachevo

In Mukachevo there was a press conference devoted to the midterm elections of deputies of the regional council to be held on March 3, 2013 in five constituencies of Transcarpathian region. The press conference was attended by the Mayor of Mukachevo Zoltan Lendyel, the chief of Mukachevo City Police Department Vasyl Shvenda and the City Prosecutor Ruslan Bilovar.

As the mayor of Mukachevo noted, the local authorities, law enforcement agencies and the judiciary are entrusted a number of duties related to the organization and conduct of the election to the regional council. Those are logistical issues, that have already been resolved, protection of public order during the voting of citizens and rapid response of the prosecution and court to all appeals of Mukachevo residents on election day, that is March 3. On the other hand, Zoltan Lendyel expressed his concern about the public dissemination of information about fights and the possible disruption of the election at some polling stations.

The chief of Mukachevo City Police Department Vasyl Shvenda assured that the police would ensure proper law and order at all polling stations, which are located in their jurisdiction. 172 law enforcement officers will be on around-a-clock duty at the stations where citizens will be voting. 

– There will be enough policemen to ensure that the election is conducted legally, – the head of Mukachevo police said.

According to Ruslan Bilovar, Mukachevo City Prosecutor’s office have drawn up a schedule of personal reception of citizens during the election. All voters’ appeals will be accepted, considered and the appropriate decision will be adopted for each of them. Also the City Prosecutor reminded local residents about the helpline (2-24-48, 3-12-45), by which citizens’ calls are constantly received.
