The Right Sector of Transcarpathia made an official statement regarding the recent information about the Transcarpathian arrested for rape and his involvement in the organization.
"Regarding the information that has been circulated by some media about the involvement of the Transcarpathian, arrested for rape, with the Right Sector, we report the following.
This person is not and has never been a member of the Right Sector of Transcarpathia. We know that he had talked with some members of our organization and introduced himself as an activist of the "Svoboda" and the self-defense. He had no reasons to claim, during the detention and interrogation, his involvement in the Right Sector.
This citizen could not have had our organization member card, because at the time of his arrest such documents did not exist at all. No other papers found on him indicate that he is involved with the Right Sector. Furthermore, it is impossible to establish that the found papers belong to him, as the name of this individual is not specified in these documents.
In any case, regardless of the degree of this citizen’s fault, the Right Sector condemns such crimes and can not be involved in their commission.
We would like to note that this is not the first attempt to discredit and throw mud at our political organization, but it will not stop us in our fight for the right to live freely and honestly on our land.
