The monument to Franz Joseph will be opened in Transcarpathia

On Wednesday, October 21, at 13.00, in the Schönborn park, which is located near the village of Turya Pasika (45 km from Uzhgorod) and adjacent to the resort "Voyevodyno", there will be presentation of the monument to the Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz Joseph.

 The monument to Franz Josef is a full length bronze figure, the author of the monument is the famous Uzhgorod sculptor Mykhailo Kolodko. The monument to Franz Josef is a tribute to the emperor who gave locals civil rights. A portrait of the Emperor was hanging in every home, and his wife, Empress Elisabeth of Bavaria – the famous Sisi – was sincerely loved by subjects and still is a symbol of feminine beauty and tenderness.

The Schönborn Park is a carefully recreated replica of the famous park that once surrounded the castle of Count Schönborn. The park was a real gem of European architecture. Today, the park is visited by thousands of tourists from all over Ukraine and from abroad. And here, among the mountain forests of Transcarpathia, where Franz Joseph, a fan of healthy and active lifestyle, used to hunt, a new monument to the Emperor of Austria, King of Bohemia and Hungary will be esyablished.
