The Ministry of Finance in cooperation with the relevant ministries and agencies has developed
possible options for substitution of imported natural gas with other types of fuel and energy.
This was announced by the press service of the Ministry.
As noted, each of the proposed options can be developed provided it is practical in a particular
region of Ukraine.
In total, they proposed 8 options, each of which has both advantages and disadvantages in its
implementation: biological fuel; synthesis gas; increase of domestic production of fuel; water-coal
fuel, i.e. making of coal mixtures; use of electricity at night for heat storage; LNG terminal, synthesis
gas SG – gas for the chemical industry; synthetic natural gas SNG.
"Since no method of reduction in the consumption of imported natural gas can be developed in
Ukraine in the absence of actual projects, the Ministry of Finance suggested to establish a relevant
working group, chaired by the Ministry of Regional Development" – the notice states.
The main task of the working group will be to search for real projects aimed at the replacement of
imported natural gas which may qualify for government support.
"The priority projects should be aimed at the replacement of imported natural gas in the production
of heat for the population, since it is in this area of heating that the state provides double subsidy", –
the press-service reported.
