The mayors agreed with the head of the Ministry of Health to cancel mass events during quarantine

The Minister of Health Maksym Stepanov said that he had held a conference call with mayors, during which they agreed to change the quarantine restrictions in the regions.

He told about it at a daily briefing. According to Stepanov, the mayors of Ukrainian cities agreed that mass events should not be held now, but instead they proposed changes in the work of educational institutions.

"My proposal was to drop any political talks, because it is about the health and lives of citizens. It is important for us that all these measures that we propose are implemented. In addition, control over compliance with these measures, in accordance with the law, is entrusted to local authorities," – Stepanov said.

According to him, during the meeting they agreed on many issues.

"I am willing to initiate these changes in the government resolution. In turn, the mayors agreed that we should not hold any mass events now, that we need control in transport, markets and other institutions. In turn, they proposed a different mode of operation of schools or kindergartens. We are ready to support all this," he said.

The Minister of Health did not specify when exactly he plans to initiate changes to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers regarding quarantine and what exactly they will be about.
