Recall that in the evening on January 7, the tragedy caused by alcohol occurred in the village of Verkhya Roztoka in Irshava district. 40-year-old resident of the village of Mala Roztoka and his wife were returning home from a nearby village.
On the way, they met carolers who were walking on the roadway. The driver stopped and reprimanded them. One of the carolers, a 19-year-old resident of the village of Horbok, while being intoxicated, hit the driver on the head with a wooden stick and broke his skull.
Last weekend the victim died in a hospital. Therefore, investigators re-classifed the criminal proceeding from Part 1 to Part 2 of Art.121 (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm that caused the death of the victim) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
By the decision of Irshava Court, a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention was imposed on the young man. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
The pre-trial investigation of the case continues.
