The legendary football player, the star of Lviv “Karpaty” Ivan Gereg has died

The legend of the Lviv "Karpaty" has died at the age of 75 after a long battle with illness.

Ivan Gereg was born in Khust. He started his career in Uzhgorod "Verkhovyna", and then in Khmelnytsky "Dynamo". But he become really famous in Lviv. There, he became a star of the "Karpaty". In 1968, he helped the "Karpaty" win the USSR Cup. Overall, he played 229 matches at the highest level. After the football career, he opened his own business.
