The largest theater of Transcarpathia has opened the new season

On October 16th, the Regional Ukrainian Music and Drama Theatre inaugurated the 70th theatrical season with a vaudeville "Turkish Shawl" by H.Kvitka-Osnovyanenko.

Before the performance, the management of the theater had time to talk with journalists and share their plans for the anniversary season.

On November 8, the chief director of the theater together with playwright Oleksandr Havrosh will present the first premiere of the 70th season – the play "A Good Summer in Paris", dedicated to the outstanding Transcarpathian artist, writer, philosopher, teacher Adalbert Erdelyi. "He’s known to the world, but in reality, few people know about him, – Anatoliy Filippov said – This is a multifaceted, complex portrait. I am very grateful to Oleksandr Havrosh for working on this subject."

Also, by the end of the year, it is planned to present two more performances: a fairy tale, "The Nutcracker" in the director’s interpretation of Oleksandr Sarkisyants and a musical comedy "Adventures of the Good Soldier Schweik" by Vasyl Shershun. Regarding the latter, the director said that, despite the relevant topics, currently no theater in Ukraine is showing this performance. "People must be able to joke even about such dramatic things as war, moreover, at times, it may be the only way to find comfort," – Vasyl Shershun said.

Another creative idea that the theater plans to implement in the future is the establishment of a so-called "small stage" in the theater that would serve for experimental productions. By the International Theatre Day on March 27, the stage will have been ready in one form or another – the managers say.
