On Sunday, September 27, at 12.00, there will be the opening of the 25th jubilee mini-sculpture to a famous Arab traveler and geographer, Christian Muhammad al-Idrisi, thanks to whom, the first mention of Uzhgorod (Ungvar) appeared in 1154 on the map of Europe.
The opening of the mini-monument is dedicated to the birthday of Uzhgorod, enthusiasts and patriots of Uzhgorod have been working on this idea and its implementation.

Muhammad al-Idrisi was an Arab traveler, cartographer, born in Morocco, who for a long time lived in Sicily. He was commissioned by the King Roger II of Spain to make a world map with detailed description of cities. This work was completed and presented to the King in 1154, and it is in this map where the city of Uzhgorod was mentioned for the first time.
