The issue of financing of the Program for flood protection in the Tisa river basin will be raised in the government

"The Program for comprehensive flood protection in the Tisa river basin in Transcarpathian region, which is aimed to protect settlements and farmland, has not been funded since 2013 – the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal says. – Then, the said program was included into the National target program of water management development and environmental rehabilitation of the Dnipro river for the period until 2021. In 2013, only the debt for the works performed in the previous year was partially repaid. In 2014, no construction works were carried out and 29 percent of the debt for the works performed in 2012-2013 was partially repaid."  

According to the head of the region, this year, again only repayment of outstanding debt is planned. As of today, twenty facilities, the construction of which started in 2009-2012, costing about UAH 125 million are not completed. At another three sites, the contractors for which were determined in 2012, works have not even started.

In order to address the extremely critical state of funding for this important program in Transcarpathia, Hennadiy Moskal initiates a meeting with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Environment and the Minister of Finance. "We need to move this issue off the ground," – Hennadiy Moskal said.
