On Monday, September 10, the installation of the monument to the victims of the Holodomor has begun in the regional center of Transcarpathia, on Nezalezhnist embankment near the building of the medical faculty of UzhNU.
The "Candle of Memory" monument is scheduled to be unveiled this year on the Day of Remembrance of the Holodomor Victims – November 24. At the moment, preparatory construction work is underway – the clearing of the site, preparation of the foundation pit for the installation of the monument. The financing is provided under the regional budget.
Recall that the victims of Holodomor – the genocide of the Ukrainian people – are commemorated every year on the fourth Saturday of November. Traditionally, Ukrainians around the world light candles of memory in their homes. In Transcarpathian region, this symbol was decided to be immortalized in bronze, the site of Hennadiy Moskal informs.
