Employees of the Economic Crime Department in Transcarpathian region, under the procedural control of the regional Prosecutor’s Office, exposed a bribery scheme organized by the head of the district sector of the State Migration Service of Ukraine.
The said official, in return for a certain reward, solved the issue of unimpeded and extraordinary issuance of biometric passports for traveling abroad.
Yesterday, March 6, this official was detained in his office while receiving a bribe of 6,000 hryvnias.
Pre-trial investigation is being conducted under Article 368 (Acceptance of a proposal, promise or obtaining of an unlawful benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The suspect was arrested in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC and was notified of being suspected of this criminal offense. The pre-trial investigation in the case continues.
