The head and the deputy head of the State Land Registry in Transcarpathian region have been detained for bribery

The General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, together with the Economic Crime Department of the National Police, detained the head and the deputy head of the State Land Registry of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region for a 200 thousand dollars bribe.

The press secretary of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Larysa Sargan reported this on Twitter.

"The GPU together with the ECD of the NP arrested the head and the deputy head of the State Land Registry of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region for a bribe of 200 thousand dollars. Searches and primary investigative activities are being conducted," – Larysa Sargan said.

In turn, Svitlana Melnychuk, the head of the Main Directorate of the State Land Registry in Transcarpathian region, denied this information.

As Melnychuk told the "Ukrainska Pravda", searches indeed are being conducted in the State Land Registry office, but she has not been detained, and currently is in her office.

She added that it is not known at the moment who exactly demanded a bribe, but assured that she was interested in identifying this person and bringing him or her to justice.
