In Transcarpathian region, employees of the state forest protection of the Velyky Bychkiv forestry have begun to breed pheasants.
Two months ago, the foresters built an enclosure, created the conditions necessary for the birds and purchased 12 young pheasants.
According to the foresters, the natural conditions of our region are very good for pheasants. The pheasants live here in the natural environment. In general, pheasants can withstand temperatures as low as -40 degrees, provided there is enough food.
The pheasant farm has a concrete foundation to keep dogs and foxes away. The aviary was built by foresters and hunters. The primary task of the pheasantry is replenishment of the fauna and tourism development. The foresters say that later new birds will be brought to the pheasantry.
The foresters plan to build there an incubator, an acclimatizator to grow their own pheasants. It will be much cheaper than buying them.
