The first discussion of the constitutional reform took place in Uzhgorod

The first round table discussion of the constitutional reform took place in the hall of the Academic Councils meetings of UzhNU. The initiator of the meeting was the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration; leading lawyers, political scientists, and public officials were invited to the discussion.

Since the changes proposed by the President of Ukraine became available to the community only yesterday, the detailed study of all the nuances is not yet possible. In fact, according to the Deputy Governor Andriy Serbaylo, it was not the purpose of this meeting. 

The discussion of innovations will continue until October 1, according to the relevant Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers. During this period, LL.D. Vasyl Lemak explains, the bill must undergo the first reading in the Parliament, the expertise of the Venice Commission, the Constitutional Court. These steps ensure the opportunity to improve the basic law. The final adoption of amendments shall take place thereafter in the Parliament by at least two-thirds of votes. It should be expected no sooner than in autumn.

As for the "regional" participation in the process of drafting the new basic law of the country, the participants of the meeting agreed to continue working in their respective sections: legal, theoretical, practical. These should include academics, practitioners, and the public. The organizing committee in a week plans to publish suggestions for topics of subsequent meetings, their schedule and, of course, participants.
