The fine for illegal hiring of workers in Hungary will be 200 million forints

In 2017, the Hungarian government imposed penalties on employers who violate labor laws of the country, the Myhungary.net informs.

Illegal hiring of workers for the period 2016 – 2017 in the country has increased by 5%. According to the data published by the Ministry of National Economy, the inspections showed that in 2016 the number of illegally employed workers was 12.73%, in 2017 this figure increased to 17.11%. This phenomenon is most widespread in agriculture, where every third employee was illegally hired. In the service sector, this figure was 21% in 2016, but in 2017 it grew to 22%, in hotel services – 16% in 2016 and 19% in 2017. However, the highest rate of illegally employed workers is in the construction industry – 47% last year, and accordingly – 42% in 2016. Now, employers who violate labor laws will be punished by a fine of 200 million forints. As for those, who are legally hired, the most common mistake is failure to register with local authorities.
