Eight theaters from different parts of Ukraine presented their best productions on the small stage of the Transcarpathian Academic Regional Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater, the dramaturg of the theater Oleksandr Havrosh informs.
Tickets for every show were sold out. The variety of topics and approaches was impressive. The festival once again showed that small stage in Ukrainian theaters is primarily an intellectual and experimental platform.
"It’s nice that the our theater’s productions on the small stage were not inferior to those of our colleagues, although we have only had it for two years, – Vasyl Mariukhnych, the head of the festival said. – One of the important aspects of the festival is the work with the Uzhgorod audience, that need such events very much. All the companies, that came for the festival, were satisfied with the both work on the stage and staying in Uzhgorod. And this means that the festival will live on. We already have applications for the next year, when the third festival "Under the cherry blossom" will take place.
On the occasion of the festival opening, the Transcarpathian theater fixed the entrance to the small stage. For the next festival, they plan to buy more chairs, improve stage light and sound, as well as install air conditioning, which is needed on hot days.
