Next week, the events of the SlobodaKult forum will take place in Transcarpathia. And although the forum begins on May 15, the exhibits of the visual program have already been delivered to Uzhgorod. In total, there are six programs: Visual, Musical and Theatrical, Literary and Discussion, Children, Cinema and Fashion.
"This is not the first forum. In our experience, representatives of different parts of Ukraine generally know very little about each other. Each region lives in its capsule of its ideas and stereotypes. And they imagine other regions through the prism of these stereotypes and prejudices. We think it’s important to establish these relationships using cultural instruments," – the curator of the visual program, art critic Dmytro Holets explains.
The visual program of the cultural forum includes 9 exhibitions, 2 performances, 3 film shows, several discussions and master classes. The exhibitions will feature more than 150 works of painting, graphics, sculptures, installations, photographs and video art from the collections of Kharkiv galleries, the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, the Artsvit Gallery (Dnipro), private collections (the Grinyov family, etc.) and artists’ workshops.
"The aim of the main exhibition, which will be called "SlobodaKult", is to analyze the "myths about Slobozhanshchyna" (and Kharkiv, in particular), which exist both within and outside the region. One of the key vectors of reflection is Slobozhanshchyna as a frontier, involving the region in the symbolic and real space of empires, the theme of memory, place and time, private and public," – the project manager, co-founder of the Dofa.Fund Olga Sagaidak explains.
Within the framework of the visual program, there will be the performances by Kharkiv artists Yuriy Shtayda and Kostyantin Zorkin, lectures by Boris Filonenko and Igor Manko, artists Mykola Kolomiyets and Serhiy Bratkov.
The forum program includes more than 100 events. Those are: 15 concerts and performances, 20 different meetings and discussions, 15 film screenings with discussions, 9 exhibitions, one fashion show and the "Skovorodafest" festival for the whole family. During the first three days, the guest of the forum will be Serhiy Zhadan. Entrance to all events is free.
