The Ethnographic Museum will celebrate its anniversary solemnly and with a new exhibition

June 20 marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Transcarpathian Ethnographic Museum. On the occasion of the anniversary, the museum workers have prepared a festive program of events that will take place in the museum already this Friday, June 19.

The solemn meeting, which will begin at 12.00, will be attended by museum directors from several regions of Ukraine and Slovakia, Hungary, Poland and Romania, as well as Consuls General of neighboring countries, management of the region and many intellectuals of Transcarpathia.

After speeches of the participants, government officials will award the museum staff with diplomas for contribution to the development of museums in the region.

An invaluable contribution to the development of museum business on the territory of Transcarpathia was once made by an outstanding historian and ethnographer Tyvodar Lehotsky (1830-1915), whose anniversary and remembrance day will be celebrated this year in autumn. That is why, according to the director of the Transcarpathian Ethnographic Museum Vasyl Sheba, the museum staff and museum experts of the region appealed to the Regional Council with a request to name the museum after Tyvodara Lehotsky.

At 13.30, there will be opening of a new exhibition at the department of history dedicated to the prominent figure of Tyvodar Lehotsky and partly consisting of exhibits from his private collection.

Finally, there will be a tour of the museum for the guests.
