The city invites taxi services to discussion

Today’s meeting of the Mayor Bogdan Andriyiv with citizens began with complaints against Uzhgorod taxi drivers. According to citizens, in many cases, taxi drivers either refuse to transport disabled persons, or ask for a double charge, arguing that they are transporting bulky goods (that is, wheelchairs or walkers).

Bogdan Andriyiv instructed to organize and hold this week a meeting with taxi services to resolve the situation. He reminded that the city authorities had done eveything within their powers. For example, according to the tender for passenger transportation in Uzhgorod, held in January 2016, on each of the routes, there is a bus for transportation of persons with disabilities. Those special buses are of two types: for transportation of people in wheelchairs and for the visually impaired passengers, the City Council inform.

Recall that this weekend, a complaint of a person with special needs, who was denied the service by one of the city’s taxi companies, was posted on Facebook.
