The Government of Ukraine decided to introduce a state of emergency in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, high alert mode throughout Ukraine and to establish the State Emergencies Commission. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk during the visiting meeting of the Government at the State Emergencies of Ukraine on Monday, January 26.
"According to the Code of Civil Defense of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to announce a state of emergency at the state level.The Government of Ukraine has decided to introduce the emergency mode in Donetsk and Luhansk regions," – the Prime Minister Yatsenyuk said at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers at the State Emergencies of Ukraine.
The introduction of this mode provides notification of citizens about available medicines, food, equipment, training on civil protection, evacuations from towns, shelter availability and more.
"Do not confuse it with military status. This is a non-stop work of the newly establishted Emergencies Commission with regional ones for outreach purposes" – the Prime Minister said.
"The Government of Ukraine decided to establish regional emergencies coordination centers – regional emergencies commissions," – Yatsenyuk said.
