Volodymyr Symulyk, the chief physician of the Rakhiv District Hospital, said that the border guard, who was hit by a smuggler in a car, had died on Saturday, November 17 at 17:05.
According to the doctor, the border guard was in serious condition for almost 2 days without the possibility of transportation and surgical intervention. He received emergency treatment. The victim was admitted with signs of severe traumatic shock, polytrauma of the chest and the abdomen organs.
As we reported, the car, which hit the border guard was detained, the driver himself fled from the scene, he was identified. It happened on the night of November 16th in Rakhiv district during the detention of a group of smugglers returning from Romania with money for smuggled cigarettes.
The killed border guard was Major Vadim Berezensky, he had 2 children.
As it became known, the Transcarpathian police managed to detain the suspect "thanks to the concerted actions of the officers of Criminal Investigation Department," but several sources of the Mukachevo.net in law enforcement agencies inform that the suspect gave himself in.
It happened today, on Saturday, November 17th, in Rakhiv, where the 34-year-old Transcarpathian was hiding over the last two days.
The detainee has been charged with criminal acts under Article 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, that is, an attempt on the life of a border guard in connection with the performance of his or her official duties for the protection of the border.
