The regional center of Transcarpathia hosts the European Championship in Combat Sambo among men born in 1998 and older, juniors born in 1999-2000, young men born in 2001-2003. Athletes from many countries – Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Moldova, Romania, Czech Republic, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Lithuania and Belarus – have come to Uzhgorod. Of course, Ukrainian athletes also take part in the tournament.
During the grand opening ceremony at the sports complex "Yunist", the participants were welcomed by Uzhgorod Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv, a representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Yevhen Kolodyazhniy, the Head of Youth and Sports Department of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Vitaliy Yerfan, the President of the European Combat Sambo Federation Elkhan Veliyev, the vice president of the Combat Sambo Federation of Ukraine Fedir Seredyuk, the president of the Combat Sambo Federation in Transcarpathian region Mykhailo Skuba.
The competition will last all day, so fans of one of the most popular martial arts still have time to see the fights.
