The best pianists from all over the world will gather in Uzhgorod at the open competition named after Desideriy Zador (ANNOUNCEMENT)

In a few days later, on March 22, the 2nd Open Piano Competition named after Desideriy Zador – an outstanding pianist, composer, the first director of the Uzhgorod Music College – will start in Uzhgorod and will last until March 25.

According to the organizing committee of the competition, 30 participants from 10 regions of Ukraine have already confirmed their participation and there will be guests from Hungary, Slovakia and the USA. Transcarpathia will be represented by the Uzhgorod Music College students, pupils of aesthetic education institutions of Mukachevo, Rakhiv and Svalyava.

The organizers pursue a specific goal – to discover and support musically gifted and talented youth. They say that the contest is not only a creative competition, it is also a forum of teachers of different generations, exchange of experience, prospects for further development of musical culture in our region. In this way, they try to contribute to the popularization of professional music, Ukrainian musical heritage, to which D. Zador served selflessly. The solemn opening of the competition will be held on March 22 at 17.30 in the Regional Philharmonic. It will be opened by the third year student of the Uzhgorod Music College named after D. Zador (teacher – M. Sokach) Adrian Herpe, who is the winner of various contests. He will play Concerto for piano and orchestra in F minor by Friederick Chopin. He will be accompanied by the symphony orchestra of the Philharmonic (the conductor is Honored Artist of Ukraine Victoria Svalyavchyk – Tsanko). During the next days, the participants will be performing in the music college. On March 23, at 6.30 pm, all music lovers are invited to the Regional Philharmonic for a solo concert of the member of the jury Sokolayi Balaj, which will take place with the support of the Consulate General of Hungary in Uzhgorod. The closing of the contest will take place on March 25, at 12.00 in the Regional Philharmonic.

 

Recall that the Open Piano Competition named after D. Zador was founded last year by the Department of Culture of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, the Department of Culture, Sports, Family and Youth of Uzhgorod City Council and Uzhgorod Music College.   Last year, more than 30 participants from different corners of Ukraine, as well as contestants from Germany, Hungary, Slovakia took part in the competition.
