The authorities demand immediate restoration of cargo operations at thirteen railway stations of Transcarpathia

The authorities demand immediate restoration of cargo operations at 13 stations in the region, which the "UZ" PJSC recognized as ineffective and unprofitable. This was stated by the head of the regional state administration on Tuesday, October 16, at the meeting on the resolution of problem issues related to the Ukrzaliznytsya’s intentions to close cargo operations at some railway stations of the region. The meeting was also attended by the heads of district state administrations and district councils, the relevant departments of the regional state administration, representatives of the Ukrzaliznytsya. Within six months, the Ukrzaliznytsya has to appoint an authorized representative for the negotiations with the regional and district state administrations, district councils and local self-government bodies. In addition, during the specified period, a moratorium on artificial barriers for the carriage of goods at these stations should be imposed.  Representatives of the district administrations stressed that the destruction of infrastructure facilities at the railways in unacceptable.  It was also emphasized that in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Local State Administrations" the authorities reserve the right to appeal to the court for the protection of the rights of economic entities who may be affected by the suspension of cargo operations at railway stations.
