The Anti-Corruption Bureau detectives will be checking property of government officials

Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau will have the right to verify the legality of the acquisition of property by officials.

This was announced at the briefing by an MP of the "Samopomich" faction Yegor Sobolev, the "Ukrinform" reported.

"This law (anti-corruption) allows detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau to ask all officials about the origin of their property," – he said.

According to the deputy, if an official can not explain the legitimate ways of acquisition of his or her property, such official will be deprived of "the illegally acquired property" and brought to liability up to imprisonment.

Sobolev said that this method of fighting corruption would be introduced following the example of Georgia.

Recall that today, the draft law amending the current legislation of Ukraine on National Anti-Corruption Bureau was included to the agenda of the session of the Parliament.
