Talented physical education teacher created a bas-relief in honor of the City Day

Valeriy Horvat is a teacher of physical culture at UzhNU College of Natural Sciences and Humanities. Most of Mr. Valeriy’s students do not realize that in his spare time, the man creates art. He says that he started with painting, but later found himself in the bas-relief technique.
As the man told the "Zakarpatsky korespondent", he was inspired by a photo, which he accidentally came across online, to create a bas-relief with the image of Uzhgorod Cathedral. The artist said that he wanted to dedicate his work to the city, which will be celebrating its 1126th anniversary these days.
Bas-relief (Fr. bas – "low" and relief) is one of the varieties of artistic relief, a sculptural composition made on a plane and connected with the background. Bas-relief is a relief whose convexity (that is, the height above the background) does not exceed half the volume of the sculpture.
Valeriy Horvat makes both copies of famous works of art and his own original pieces. The artist’s works will be displayed tomorrow at an exhibition in the Owl’s Nest.
