In Transcarpathia, the Security Service of Ukraine suspects a local collector who tried to smuggle pictures of the founders of the Transcarpathian school of painting to Slovakia.
The professional expertise of the paintings confirmed that those were original works of famous Transcarpathian artists, which are of historical, cultural and museum value and not subject to export from Ukraine.
According to the specialists, original works of Bokshay "Portrait of the son", "Zhornava" and Erdelyi’s "Portrait of a young man" are worth about 2 million hryvnia.
Currently, the offender has been notified of being suspected of a crime under Part 2 Art. 15 and Part 2 of Art. 201 (smuggling) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Pre-trial investigation is continuing, the press-service of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathia reported.
