Soldiers of the Transcarpathian battalion talk to each other in 3 languages

In the first collection of articles on the activities of the military personnel in the sector "M" (southern region of Donbas and Mariupol), the "Priazovsky robochy" tells about soldiers of the 4th Battalion of Territorial Defence, formed during the second stage of mobilization in Transcarpathia.

Now, soldiers apply their professionalism and patriotism for the protection of Mariupol and its environs.

"In our division, about 90 percent are volunteers. In addition to Ukrainians, there are a lot of Poles, Hungarians, Russians, Slovaks and other nationalities. We talk to each other in three languages, and no problems about this have ever occurred.

All soldiers of the 4th Battalion consider Donbas an integral part of Ukraine and are ready to fight for this region" – the battalion commander Lt. Col. O said.

"I’m an ethnic Hungarian, and I have many relatives living abroad. But I was born in Ukraine and I am not going to let anyone take its land. I am a winemaker by profession,  and was making a good money, and in spring, I came to the recruting office by myself. I just could not sit in a warm apartment and watch into my 11-year-old son’s eyes, talking about patriotism…" – Warrant Officer Oleksiy Patsyuk said.

Transcarpathians had combat training at the range of the mountain infantry unit, and a significant portion of their logistics was provided by volunteers. They are still keeping in touch with their countrymen, constantly sending them various parcels. Recently, the soldiers received from Uzhgorod students 250 drawings made by children to morally support their parents.

Under the new tradition, that has recently appeared in the zone of the antiterrorist operation, Ukrainian soldiers keep children’s drawings close to their hearts or in helmets. Warriors believe that children’s amulets will protect them from enemy bullets.
