For the third year in a row, a social bicycle project "I See, I Can, I Will" designed to overcome social stereotypes about people with disabilities is being held in Ukraine. The participants – sighted and blind, as well as people with visual impairments – are going on a multi-day trip throughout Ukraine on tandem bikes. This year, they started in Ivano-Frankivsk, the final stop of the cycling ride is Uzhgorod.
They arrive to Uzhgorod on August 27.
They will enter through the central entrance to the city at 17:00 (then will ride through Petofi Square and to Teatralna Square).
7 tandems are taking part in the ride.
The ride lasts 9 days along the Frankivsk-Dolyna-Mizhhirya-Khust-Mukachevo-Uzhgorod route.
There are participants from Lviv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Frankivsk, Poltava, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Uman, Kamyanets-Podilsky. Among the participants, there are representatives of different professions: lawyers, journalists, masseurs, chemists, etc.
The project is designed to help blind or visually impaired people to become "visible" to the public, promote their inclusion and establish respect for human rights.
The project "I See! I Can! I Will!" launched in 2015 by the Institute of Ukrainian Studies to commemorate Mykola Pekha, a blind Lviv activist and the co-founder of the organization.
