Signs with new names have already been installed on nine streets of Uzhgorod

New signs have been installed on nine streets of Uzhgorod that were renamed by the order of the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration under decommunisation, the UNN reports.

Today, 13 October, representatives of the housing maintenance enterprises replaced the signs with the old names to the tablets ordered by Hennadiy Moskal at his own expense. So, now eight streets officially bear the names of soldiers killed in eastern Ukraine, and one street bears the name of the first historian of Uzhgorod Karoy Mesaros.

As Uzhgorod city council spokeswoman Alla Kokhan told the UNN, by the order of the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, 25 streets in Uzhgorod shall be renamed.

"18 signs for nine of them have been provided by the Regional State Administration. The city council ordered new street signs for the other 16 at its own expense. In the near future, they will be manufactured and installed on the buildings maintained by our enterprises. In private households, residents will do it at their own discretion and at their own expense," – A.Kokhan added.

As you know, new signs for the renamed streets and squares of Transcarpathia were delivered to the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration back on September 27.
