Rescuers will be taking care of the citizens’ safety during Epiphany

According to the Christian tradition, on January 19 – the day of the great feast of the Baptism of the Lord – many Transcarpathians will practice the rite of bathing in the water, because, according to popular belief, on that day it acquires healing properties and can cure physical and spiritual ailments. Therefore, in all settlements of Transcarpathia, there will be worship services, after which people will be able to dip into the water in specially designated places.

The safety of citizens during the ritual activities will be ensured by representatives of the rescue service of the region. Thus, during the rituals of water consecration in open water bodies of the region, rescuers and representatives of local authorities will be on duty at each bathing place and ready to provide assistance to citizens. In total, there will be 19 posts with 74 men and 15 units of equipment. Rescuers have everything they need to save people on the water: lifebuoys, ropes, ladders and boats.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region asks citizens to observe the basic rules of safety, to be extremely cautious when being near bodies of water during celebrations and to bathe only in specially designated places where, if necessary, you can quickly get the help of specialists.
