Representative of Uzhgorod city council in the trial “on Pogorelov”: “This is not the end!”

Lawyer Natalia Maystrenko, representing Uzhgorod city council in the court trial, where Pogorelov’s claim was considered, commented on the situation as follows: "Of course, there were aspects which the lawyers of the opposite party could emphasize on. But our position was simple – the will and the right of the community. It was exercised by deputies through voting with 41 votes for the dismissal of the mayor. All those accusations that it was supposedly a political persecution and that the voting took place supposedly under the pressure of the people, who were in the hall, have simple answers. Pogorelov, as a member of the Party of Regions, was the personification of the regime that brought the people to poverty, and the community had their say, which, by the way, they are entitled to. As for the people, the law provides that members of the community may be present at meetings of the City Council. It is particulary appropriate when they vote for decisions that are very important for citizens and their life in the city.  And it was such a case."

"As for the trial itself, prior to it, through the actions of Daniella Gevorgyan (now she is again the administrator of the Executive Committee – Uzhgorod.in) my letter of authorization was withdrawn and I could not participate fully in the examination of witnesses. Nevertheless. What I want to stress is that this is not the end! Instead, it’s the end for him as a politician" – Natalia Maystrenko says.
