Repair of Shvabska street in Uzhgorod has finally started (PHOTOS)

The long-awaited repair of Shvabska street that city officials had promised long ago, has finally started today. This delay was caused by a banal lack of funds in the city treasury. So the money is found, and repair is in the process. 

First, Vodokanal workers will have the communication replaced because, as it turned out during examination, they are in such bad condition that would not stand even for 5-6 years.    

The roads in Shvabska will be fully covered with asphalt and all the pavement blocks will be taken off and moved to Teatralna square and Korzo street.  The street will be only for a one-way traffic after the repair, i.e. from the city centre to Mynajska street.  

On Monday Shvabska should be open for traffic, while Mukachivska will be completely closed (simultaneous closure of two roads would lead to transport collapse).   

After Mukachivska is repaired the works will move back to Shvabska again to renovate sidewalks here, but this time at the expense of institutions located along the street.

The repair of Shvabska takes about 4.5 millions hryvnias, Mukachivska street – about 1 million, Gagarina – about 2 millions.

By the way, make repairs are made at the expense of the regional budget. "We have no money in the city budget, and Uzhgorod is still a regional center, so we turned to the regional authorities and received their support," – said Victor Pogorelov.
