Regional health care institutions have the serum against snake bites

Today, some regional media spread the information about the absence of the serum for snake bites in health care institutions.

The director of the Transcarpathian regional center of emergency medical aid Tomash Bilynets explained the situation with availability of the serum of the region: "The serum for snake bites in the region is kept at the regional center of emergency medical aid (disaster medicine).  If necessary, it is promptly delivered to any institution in the region. The serum is to be administered within 6 hours after the bite."

Also, the doctor said that every year, 8 to 15 bites by poisonous reptiles is recorded in Transcarpathia.  However, over the last 15 years, there has been no case of a bite that would have fatal consequences. Tomash Bilynets also said that the most common dangerous reptile in our region is the Carpathian serpent. Although its bite is not deadly to humans, it can cause a number of complications and allergic reactions.

Thus, in case of snake bite, you should immediately seek the assistance of medical experts.
