Refusal to accept electronic cards will cost entrepreneur $ 1,000

The government introduces administrative liability for failure to accept electronic cards.
This was announced by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, which is initiating appropriate changes.
The Cabinet of Ministers supported the draft resolution prepared by the Ministry, which, for the protection of consumers’ rights in the use of payment instruments, amends the Regulation on the
imposition and collection of fines.
According to the document, in case of restriction or denial of the consumers’ rights to pay with payment cards, businesses face fine in amount of 500 tax-free minimum incomes (8,500 UAH).
According to the Law of Ukraine "On Protection of Consumer Rights", the consumer has the right for free choice of goods and services at a convenient time and for free use of electronic means of payment subject to operation schedule and mandatory methods of payment.

"With the adoption of this Resolution, consumers may demand all undertakings, where cash registers are installed, to accept electronic means of payment" – the Deputy Director of the Trade
Development Department of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade Serhiy Litvinenko said.
