Pigs in Transcarpathian Hecha will be butchered not on Christmas and at the end of January (Announcement)

"The bloodiest festival" is how they call the culinary holiday which is traditionally held in Beregovo district, the village of Hecha.
Butchers and cooks will be competing there. "Death day for pigs" will come this winter too.
The competition of butchers is one of the most original festivals of Transcarpathia.

Traditionally, it is held in late January. The site Igotoworld informed that in 2016 the festival in Hecha was planned to be held on January 7, Orthodox Christmas.

However, this information was denied by Andriy Meshter – Hecha village head. He says: the event will be held on January 30.
Hentesh is the traditional Transcarpathian festival and contest of professional butchers. During the celebration, the visitors will have a great opportunity not only to see how masters work and to learn how to cook delicious meat dishes, but also to enjoy them, get filled with good emotions and excellent mood.
The festival rightly is considered the gourmet feast. But – not vegetarians!

The event is dedicated to cooking of unique meat dishes. There, you can enjoy many professionally cooked traditional dishes: stuffed cabbage with meat; goulash; bograch; smoked and baked sausage; bacon; various smoked meat; stew and many other goodies.
At the opening of the festival, guests are treated with Transcarpathian wine, brandy or hot mulled wine.
Later in the afternoon, merry folk music is played at the festival.
