Photos that did not get into news. Remembering summer! (PHOTOS)

"I am so tired of these winter news and photos, – the editor told me the other day – ice, snow drifts, slush…" That’s right. We’re all tired of that. Even those, who genuinely love winter, start craving for warmth by mid-February. And so, to remind myself of the summer, I decided to browse archives. Because there are a lot of unused reportage pictures there. At that time, they did not stand the competition with other shots, but they have become useful now – for a warm mood.

So, let us remember some summer events in Uzhgorod.

1. Radvanka quarry. Many of Uzhgorod residents come here to escape heat.

2. Uzhgorod regatta – one of the most colorful and fun events.

3. Last summer, the Children’s Railway was officially launched.

4. Also last year, a new outdoor sports complex, built with the assistance of Hungary, was opened near the student dormitories. The opening was spectacular.

5. Actors of the puppet theater "Bavka" tour a lot. Pictured – the performance in the sanatorium "Malyatko."

6. In July, bikers held a nationwide race Uzhgorod-Crimea. They started on Teatralna square, and finished in Chongar on the border with the occupied peninsula.

7. The impressive event "Night at the Museum." At the entrance to the Uzhgorod castle, guests were photographed with medieval knights.

8. TV Festival "My native land". In addition to the official part, the organizers held a lot of other interesting events. This photo is from the cooking competition of radio and TV workers.

9. Last summer, after years of being out of service, the much needed traffic lights on Koryatovich street were repaired. Pictured – the process of repair. By the way, some Uzhgorod residents still do not notice their existence and often run red lights.

10. Summer is not just heat. Sometimes we are visited by squally winds and storms. Thus, in summer 2016, on Koryatovich square, perennial trees fell right on cars.

11. There were other adverse events too. Here is an accident on Bercheni street.

12. And here is burned skeleton of the "Dubky" cafe in the Bozdosh park.

13. In the summer, extensive counterterrorism drill took place in Uzhgorod, which at first confused and frightened many people. Like this rusty car on Poshtova Square. It was standing there since the morning, long before the "capturing of the City Hall by terrorists." Passers-by even called the police. Later this car was burned…

 14. Closer to the autumn, fields around Uzhgorod get enveloped with smoke. Some farmers prefer to burn the remains of stubble on fields, without thinking about the consequences for the environment. Pictured – a stork walking on a burned field.

15. Last year, many cultural events were held in the atrium of the RSA. One of them was a joint concert of classical music artists from Uzhgorod and Slovakia.
