More than 300 damaged roofs, dozens of smashed cars, destroyed gardens – this is the aftermath of yesterday’s hail in the village of Brid in Irshava district. And this is one third of all houses. Despite the shock, local residents quickly recovered and in the morning most damaged roofs were covered with a construction film. Seal foam is the most demanded commodity in the village.
12-year-old Mykhailo wasted no time during the storm and quickly collected the "gifts" from the sky, and now he has, so to speak, material evidence.
Hailstones the size of a duck egg smashed more than a dozen cars. People did not have time to drive them into garages, and canopies could not save from powerful impacts.
The villagers say that the storm was raging for no more than 15 minutes, but caused losses at millions of hryvnias.
The people, who were affected by the storm and hail, wrote statements to the village council and now the houses are being checked. A special commission was set up in Irshava district tasked with assessment of material losses and assisting in repairing the roofs.
