Once there was a road here… (PHOTOS)

…and now there is not. The emotions, that overwhelm drivers who have traveled in the direction of the village of Lopukhiv in Tyachiv district at least once, are only negative.

The continuous tension and curses in mind and aloud. It is difficult to notice lush scenery around when it is not possible to look away from the direction that once used to be a road, otherwise you’ll get into trouble – another pothole. And there are thousands of them on the stretch of about 30 kilometers.

The road towards the villages of Ust-Chorna and Lopukhiv in Tyachiv district was swept away during the catastrophic floods in Transcarpathia in 1998 and 2001. Since then, it has not been repaired. Therefore, there is no road between the villages.

On August 11, people gathered there for the village festival. The head of the largest district of the country also was there. The head of Tyachiv district Ivan Brenzyanyk, answering journalists’ questions about the roads, said that he knew about the problem, but "we understand that the district can not develop without roads and tourists.   Together with the heads of village councils we are developing a program to repair and build roads in 2014. I can not say that the problem will be resolved within a year. But within three years the problem will disappear."

For now, it is better not go to Lopukhiv. Well, maybe for some road extreme…
