"Once there was Narodna Square in our city of Uzhgorod. A real beauty in comparison with its sister squares – Koryatovich, Petofi, Teatralna, that looked poorly and really needed care and reconstruction – Narodna Square felt great, was well-groomed, fresh and green, harmoniously fitted into the architectural environment and pleased eyes of Uzhgorod residents.
Two years ago, the news about the reconstruction of the square shook the community. Green grass and flowers were replaced with parched remains of lawn, paving covered with some trash, and lonely benches (24!) that hardly anyone sits on. The highlight of the future square was to be a fountain, but at the moment only broken boards stick out of water holes.
Such torturing of once fresh and beautiful Narodna Square cost Uzhgorod residents 3 milllion hryvnia.
We would like to ask Uzhgorod politicians and leaders, who have repeatedly expressed interesting and clever ideas for the city development – Vlad Pavlley, Victor Pogorelov, Oleksander Ledyda and others – does anyone know, since this "necessary" reconstruction already happened anyway, what to do now – because of the main square of the region is in a really neglected and unfinished state?" – users of Facebook ask.
