On the Day of Holodomor Victims, a number of events will be held in Transcarpathia

The stone for the future monument to the victims of Holodomor in Ukraine will be laid in Uzhgorod.
On the last Saturday of November, Ukraine commemorates the victims of Holodomor. In the regional center, on the annual national memorial day, there will be a procession, laying of the memorial stone, candle lighting.

The activities will begin at 10.30, on Poshtova Square. Representatives of the government, religious organizations, witnesses of the famine and youth with candles will form a convoy that will march to the site of the construction of the monument to the victims of the famines in Ukraine (near the Medical Faculty of Uzhgorod National University).

At 11.00, the laying and consecration of the cornerstone for the construction of the monument will begin there. The participants will honor the memory of the millions of Ukrainians, who died a martyr’s death from starvation. Regional, city officials and the public will light candles in memory of the victims. Representatives of religious denominations will hold requiem.

The events to commemorate the victims of Holodomor in Ukraine will continue at 15.30, on Teatralna Square in Uzhgorod.
At 16:00, Transcarpathians will join the nationwide moment of silence and the campaign "Light a candle of memory" by lighting candles in the window of the houses after dark.
